Booking a job in another time zone

A booking's times are always the local time where the job is. Here is what that means on your calendar, your team's calendars, and everywhere else in Logidex.

When you book a job in another state, the times you type are the time at the job. A 2:30 PM job in Dallas means 2:30 PM in Dallas, even if you are in California.

⭐ Type the time the client tells you. You never need to convert it.

How Logidex knows the time zone

The booking's time zone comes from its address. When you save an address, Logidex finds it on a map and notes the time zone it is in.

So the address has to be right. A booking with no address, or one Logidex cannot find, has no time zone yet. See No map or miles on a booking.

If you change a booking's address to somewhere in another time zone, its time zone changes with it. The times you typed stay the same local times.

What you see on Google Calendar

The invite is sent with the job's own time zone. Google then shows each person the time in whatever time zone their own Google Calendar is set to:

  • The person working the job, if they are in Dallas, sees 2:30 PM.
  • You, in California, see the same job at 12:30 PM on your calendar, because that is when 2:30 PM in Dallas happens for you.

⚠️ That is correct, not a mistake. Nothing needs fixing if your calendar shows a different time from the booking.

Everywhere else in Logidex

  • The booking itself always shows the local time at the job.
  • Moving a job to Completed happens once its last shift ends in the job's own time zone.
  • Your home page follows your business's own time zone, set in Customize → Engine → Base Timezone.

The base timezone is also used for a booking with no address yet, until its address is found.
